There was a time when you either pay hefty to get flagship specs, or compromise a lot. Slowly things improved and a new category of smartphones called Value Flagship Smartphones. This category has almost flagship like features but at comparatively lower price. OnePlus One was actually the first phone with “Flagship Killer” tagline which sat perfectly into this category.
Today we are going to list out Best 5 Value Flagship Smartphones of 2021. These are the smartphones which outperformed in many ways for the price. Speaking about price, we will pick phones from ₹30,000 – ₹40,000 because of the world inflation as a said in my previous Best Of’s. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
1. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G:
Four years ago, if you think about a value flagship Samsung smartphone, you will laugh about this. But now it’s a reality because the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G is the best buy under ₹40,000. It was initially launched at ₹56,000, but it fell down few months later. It packs in the Snapdragon 865 SoC, which is still a very powerful chipset. The design is also appealing and it gives you a premium feel.
As usual the display of Samsung is top notch AMOLED Display and 120Hz refresh rate. There’s a proper triple camera setup with regular, wide angle, and telephoto lens. And it is still the best camera as well as best value smartphone from tier 1 brand at this price. Also, do note that the actual price is significantly high, but most of the time it touches to ₹40,000 in sales. For more information, Click Here.
2. IQOO 7 5G:
The most popular and value flagship smartphone around the ₹30,000 price point this year was IQOO 7 5G. This smartphone suddenly came out of nowhere and grabbed the limelight. It was launched in Q2 of 2021, but is still relevant and every smartphone launched at similar price points gets compared with it. It has Snapdragon 870 SoC, which is overall the best & most efficient mobile chipset of 2021. And IQOO 7 completely utilized its potential.
Its main camera is also one of the best for the price and the device is ideal for gaming as well. Only drawback this smartphone has the UI. Though the Sd870 made sure everything runs smoothly, the UI made the experience a bit uncomfortable. Also, it has just 2 5G bands. All in all, IQOO 7 5G is true flagship killer of 2021. 3. Realme GT Neo 2 5G:
In competition to IQOO 7, Realme launched the GT Neo 2 5G smartphone. It packs many specs similar to IQOO 7 like Snapdragon 870 SoC, great 120Hz E4 AMOLED Display, good battery and fast charging. The Realme UI in fact, is lot better than IQOO’s UI. And it has plenty of 5G bands as well.
Only thing Realme needs to work hard on is its camera optimization, which is simply poor. And though the cameras are not that great, it still makes a great deal for the asking price, or a decent value flagship smartphone. For more information, Click Here.
4. Mi 11X Pro 5G:
Any smartphone list is incomplete without Xiaomi. And for the value flagship segment there’s Mi 11X Pro 5G, which offers the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC at the cheapest price when launched. Apart from this flagship chipset, the Mi 11X Pro has a 108MP Camera sensor, one of the best Macro Camera, great E4 AMOLED Display with 120Hz refresh rate, and premium design.
The downside of this smartphone is its 8MP wide angle camera, which is same as a ₹15,000 smartphone. Also, the accelerometer-based proximity sensor is half baked and I don’t see any need to do this. Still, we can consider this as a value flagship smartphone for what it offers even at the times of chip shortage and inflation. For more information, Click here.
5. Motorola Edge 20 Pro 5G:
Last smartphone in this list is Motorola’s Edge 20 Pro, which has some killer specs but didn’t get much popularity. This device runs on Snapdragon 870 SoC and has a brilliant AMOLED Display with 144Hz refresh rate. It comes with good battery, fairly nice design, and plenty of 5G bands as well. The camera setup is also one of the best with 108MP (Main), 16MP (Wide Angle), & 8MP (Telephoto).
The downside of this smartphone is its camera processing. Despite having a great hardware, the poor software optimization keeps it behind other smartphones. And it didn’t market this phone that much also hints at its not so bright future support. But for what it offers, I would consider it as an underrated value flagship smartphone.
