Back In last month, we updated that the Canadian brand BlackBerry will unveil its new smartphone on June 7, and the company also teased the device in late last month. Well, as promised the company launched the BlackBerry KEY2 at an event in New York City.
The all new BlackBerry KEY2 is the successor of last year’s BlackBerry KEYOne and it looks similar as well, but the device comes with improvements. So, let’s dive into the article to know more about the smartphone.
The device has a Series 7 aluminium frame which offers an additional durability and it also has a “diamond grip” texture at the back which will prevent the device to slip from the user’s hands as it gives a better grip. The device also comes with a physical QWERTY keyboard (just like the predecessor) and the keyboard has the touch-sensitive and can be used for the navigation. The company has increased the height of the keyboard and a new button has added a new button called ‘Speed Key’ which gives shortcut access to different functions.
The BlackBerry KEY2 sports 4.5 inch display and covered with 2.5D curved glass and has 1620 x 1080 pixel resolution, and the display is protected with the Gorilla Glass from unwanted scratches. It is powered by 2.2 GHz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and paired with 6 GB RAM along with Adreno 512 GPU for the graphical task. In terms of storage, the device has two storage variants – 64/128 GB, and it can be expandable upto 256 GB via microSD card.
Moving to the camera department, the device has dual camera setup at the back and it is placed in the horizontal orientation. And the camera is in the combination of 12 megapixel (f/1.8 aperture, Dual PDAF, 1.28 μm pixel size) + 12 megapixel (f/2.6 aperture, PDAF, 1.0 μm pixel size) with Optical Superzoom, Portrait Mode, HDR, 4K video recording at 30 FPS, and dual-tone LED flash. The device also has an 8 megapixel with Selfie Flash via LCD display.
The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner and the BlackBerry DTEK Security Suite to give an additional layer of security. For connectivitym it also supports dual SIM, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB OTG, 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB Type-C 3.0, and GPS. The device runs on Android Oreo 8.1, and the whole device is backed on 3,500 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
Pricing and availability
