Elon Musk’s ambitions for space travel and exploration are growing over time. Now SpaceX CEO , has new plans to bring advertising out of the world. Musk will partner with a Canadian-based startup to launch a satellite that will serve as a billboard for space advertising.
In Elon Musks’ latest venture, SpaceX will launch a satellite into low orbit next year. The company’s team is trying to send a satellite into space on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which will help send ads from Earth. Speaking of the satellite itself, it is called a CubeSat, and will feature a pixilated display screen that displays content from the Earth.
Geometric Energy Corporation, a startup SpaceX is working with, added that the screen could be used to display logos and art, in addition to just advertising. Samuel Reid, CEO and Co Founder of GEC also told BusinessInsider that company plans to load the Cubsat into a Space X Falcon 9 rocket, which will launch and release it before the rocket reaches the moon. While some may find it unattractive to look at the sky and see the ad, you can be sure that this space billboard will not be visible from Earth.
Instead of appearing directly, the contents of the satellite display will be streamed live to various online platforms such as YouTube or Twitch via a camera. In other words, a selfie stick captures satellite content / ads and sends them to streaming sites. This will allow anyone to view the content being displayed on the satellite’s screen.
