Essential’s PH-1 Phone Launched With Bezel-less Design & 360° Camera

This year we are seeing a new trend called bezel-less in smartphones, especially in flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ & LG G6. The trend actually started with the Xiaomi Mi Mix. Now we have another OEM in market which has a new bezel-less phone, Essential. The Android co-creator Andy Rubin’s company launched new phone named as PH-1, after giving us few hints about the device. The all new Essential PH-1 has one Trending feature of bezel-less display and one unique feature of 360° Camera. So, let’s have a look at the phone’s built and specs.

First let’s talk about the built, this screen is a ‘Full Display’ which is nothing but a marketing term just like Samsung’s Infinity Display. The 5.7” LCD Quad HD display has very thin bezels & on the top there’s only some space for front camera, nothing else. This screen has a ratio of 19:10 which is wide as compared to normal 16:9 ratio displays but not as wide as Galaxy S8 and LG G6’s ratio. The frame of this phone is made up of titanium, which is more durable & tough as compared to aluminium. The back is made from ceramic and the display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Now talking about other specs of this phone, it comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 octa core processor clocked @ 2.45Ghz built on 10nm process with Adreno 540 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, no expandable storage via SD card. It runs on Android OS but as of now the Android version is unknown. It packs a 3040mah battery with 27W fast charging & USP Type-C port. It has 4 mics & stereo speakers, one on earpiece & other on loudspeaker. But sadly it doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack. It weights at 185 grams & 7.8mm thick. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back and it has all basic connectivity options including the latest Bluetooth 5.0 .

Coming to camera, it has 13MP+13MP Dual Rear Camera Set-up with f1.8 lens, hybrid autofocus, PDAF and laser autofocus system. The 1st 13MP sensor has Dual RGB & Mono camera function while the other 13MP sensor has monochrome feature. The front camera is an 8MP shooter with f2.2 lens. Both front & rear camera can shoot videos in 4K @ 30fps, 1080p @ 60fps and 720p @ 120fps. Along with this in-built camera, it has an accessory of 360° Camera which is going to sold separately. This 360° camera can record videos on 4K @ 30fps. There’s a proprietary pin on the back of the phone through which we can attach this 360° camera along with other accessories like charging dock, more accessories will come in future.
