Along with the Galaxy Tab S6, Samsung has launched its latest wearable called Galaxy Watch Active in India. The device will available via Flipkart, Amazon, Samsung online store, and the official Samsung partner stores across the country and it will cost ₹26,990 for aluminium body model and ₹31,990 for the stainless-steel body variant. The company launched only 44mm variant of the device in the country.
Design & Built:
Starting with the design, in earlier Samsung smartwatches there was a physical rotating wheel to control the device, but this year Samsung removed it with Galaxy Watch Active. Now with the successors they bought back the wheel but it’s digital wheel rather than physical. It means there’s full screen display on the watch, but the sides can be turned into digital wheel which can be used to control the watch like earlier watches. There’s haptic vibration which gives the clicky feel of physical wheel.
Specifications
The screen size is 1.2 inch and available in aluminium and stainless steel options. The Bluetooth version has aluminium built and the LTE version has a stainless steel build. The straps also has options like leather finished or stainless steel.
It also sports Super AMOLED display with 360×360 resolution and has 364 ppi. It has Gorilla Glass DX+ protection on top. Regarding protection it is 5ATM waterproof and IP68 certified, along with MIL-STD-810G standards for durability. It comes with dual core Exynos 9110 CPU built on 10nm process. It has 768MB RAM for Bluetooth version and 1.5GB RAM for LTE version. Both have 4GB internal storage. This Galaxy Watch Active 2 runs on TizenOS for the smartwatch.
Talking about fitness, this Galaxy Watch Active 2 is loaded with lots of new and improved features. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is present on this watch, which not only tracks the exercise, but also overall health. It has 8 LED optical heart rate sensor for more accurate heart rate check-up. It can track total 39 different types of workouts, along with sub-categories within. It has a Calm app which is useful for sleep counts, stress level, as well as for guiding towards proper meditation.
For styling, it has a feature named My Style. With this feature, users can match the background theme colour of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 based on watch he/she is wearing. User needs to click the photograph of dress he/she is wearing with the connected smartphone, and watch theme colour will change accordingly. The LTE version has specific features like voice and text translations, Spotify, read & reply to social media messages, Samsung Pay, and Bixby. The shutter button option for smartphone camera is available for Bluetooth version as well.
