At Google I/O 2017 event Google announced that some updates to many of their products like Google Home, Android O, Google Photos and Gmail. Apart from all these, they also announced an update regards to VR headset. & It’s not an update for software, it’s for the hardware. Means Google has announced a new “Standalone Daydream VR Headset”. It’s a very big upgrade over last year’s Daydream VR. So let’s see what’s new & different this VR Headset has.
The main & biggest difference in this new Standalone Daydream VR is that there’s no need of a smartphone to experience the VR content. The VR Headset has all the necessary hardware to run the content. Apart from the basic required sensors like gyroscope, this VR will also have special motion tracking sensors that will scan your surroundings in 3D to get more immersed experience in VR System. This tech is known as WorldSense Technology, & it scans 6 different directions for the 3D experience, & the directions are : left, right, forward, backward, jump & crouch.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Google said that this VR Headset will be available soon. & According to HTC’s Vive this will be available later this year. So stay tuned with us for more information.
