Here’s The List Of Dead Google Products

The Mountain View company Google has a variety of applications and products, the company serves its consumers in various sections and offers a variety of services. Which are a very important part of our day-to-day life, products like Google Maps, Google Calendar, Gmail became the vital part of our life and no one would think to replace?

However, the company also faced failures with its products and the company has shut down many of its products or applications. In this article, I will list all the Google products which are no more. So, without wasting any time let’s dive into the article.

List of Dead Google products

  • Google Answers

The Google Answers was one of its first product of the tech giant, and the company launched it in 2002. It was an online knowledge platform, where users can ask questions and find solutions with the answers of other users who are familiar with that particular question. Google closed the product in 2005, because of the community’s limited size.

  • Google Dodgeball

It was a unique platform which offered the location-based social networking service for mobile devices. It allowed users to texted their location, which then notified to his or her near and dear ones. The company started this product in 2005 and shutdown it in February 2009.

  • Google Lively

It was a web-based virtual environment and supported on Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, using the Windows XP or Windows Vista and users need a special download as well as Adobe Flash to use this product, the product comes into the video game category. The company started it in 2008 and discontinued on December 31, 2008.

  • Google Page Creator

This product was a place where a user can create a website and get hosting service by Google, it was a tool for basic website design where users don’t need to know about the HTML. The company started it in August 2008 and shutdown it in September 2008.

  • Google Web Accelerator

It was a web speed tool, users need to install it on the computer, and the client will do the data caching on Google’s servers, to speed up page load times by means of data compression. Google started the product in 2005 and discontinued it in 2008.

  • Google Audio Ads

The Audio Ads is another dead Google products, it was a radio advertisement set up and it was only operated in the United States, the company launched it in 2007 and shutdown it in 2009.

  • Google Ride Finder

Years before the Uber or Ola, the Mountain View company Google started the service to find a car, taxi, carpool. Google offered the service in 14 cities of the United States, the company started this product in 2007 and closed it in 2009.

  • Google SearchWiKi

SearchWiki was a Google Search feature which allowed logged-in users to annotate and re-order search results. The service was started in 2008 and it was rested in the cemetery in 2010.

  • GOOG-411

It was a telephone service which offered the speech-recognition-based business directory search, the service was accessible via a toll-free telephone number. Google introduced it in 2007 and shutdown it in 2010.

  • Google Gears

The Google Gears was an open source utility software, with this, the company targeted to create more powerful web applications by adding offline storage and other need full features. The company introduced it in 2007 and discontinued it in 2010.

  • Google Buzz

It was one of the first Google social networking services, the company started it in 2010 but in 2011, the company discontinued the service and made the existing content in read-only mode.

  • Google Notebook

It was a free online application which allows users to save and organize clips of information while conducting online research, the company introduced the service in 2006 and shutdown it in 2011.

  • Google AardVark

It was a social search service which connected users live with friends or friends-of-friends who were able to answer their questions. The company started in 2008 and discontinued it in 2011.

  • Google Dictionary

The Google Dictionary was a web-based in dictionary service which allowed users to find the definition of words and phrases, the company started it in 2010 and it was closed in 2011. Having said that, the company made the service available in the Google web search.

  • Google Labs

With this product, Google encouraged the users to demonstrate and test new projects, the company described Google Labs as a playground where our more adventurous users can play around with the prototypes and the company discontinued it in 2011.

  • Google Desktop

It was the desktop search app which allowed users to get instant access to their data whether online or offline, the company started it in 2004 and discontinued it in 2011.

  • Google SideWiKi

It was a browser extension which allowed users to logged into a Google Account to make and view comments about a given website in a sidebar. Google introduced the service in September 2009 and discontinued it in 2011.

  • Google Fast Flip

This was an online news aggregator allowed users to get the mimicked experience of flicking through a newspaper or magazine, the company introduced it in 2009 and shutdown in 2011.

  • Google Wave

The Google Wave was a real-time collaborative editing online tool. It was announced at the Google I/O conference on May 27, 2009, and discontinued it in 2012.

  • Google Video

It was the video hosting service by the Mountain View company Google, it was announced in 2005 and Google shut down it on February 20, 2012, and the contents which were on the Google video was automatically migrated to the YouTube.

  • Google Health

Google Health was a personal health record service, and the company started it in 2008 then it was discontinued in 2012.

  • Google Knol

With this product, Google targeted to include user-written articles on a range of topics. The service was unveiled in July 2008 and it was discontinued in 2012.

  • Google Picnik

It was an online photo editing service, the company started it in 2010 and discontinued it in 2012.

  • Google Jaiku

The Google Jaiku was a microblogging website similar to Twitter, the company launched on February 2007 and it was closed in 2012.

  • Google Urchin

It was a web analytics tool, the company started it in 2005 and discontinued it in 2012. It was the move for the popular Google Analytics.

  • Google Code Search

The service allowed web users to search for open-source code on the Internet. The tech giant Google introduced it in 2006 and discontinued the service in 2012.

  • Google Sparrow

It was an email client for the Mac users, the company started it in 2011 and shutdown it in 2012.

  • Google Reader

Google Reader was an RSS/Atom feed aggregator, the company unveiled the product on October 7, 2005, and discontinued it in 2013.

  • iGoogle

It was a personal web portal launched by Google in May 2005. It was discontinued on November 1, 2013.

  • Google Checkout

The Google was an online payment processing service to simplify the process of paying for online purchases. It was discontinued on November 20, 2013.

  • Google Latitude

The service allowed a mobile phone user to allow certain people to view their current location, it was launched in 2009 and shutdown it in 2013.

  • Google Building Maker

It was a service which allowed users to create 3D buildings, and the company started in 2009 and closed it in 2013.

  • Orkut

I don’t believe that I should explain anything about Orkut, because it was one of the first social networking platforms where this generation guys signed up for the first time and made their friends list and groups or communities, the company started it in 2004 and shutdown it in 2014.

  • Google Catalogs

The Google Catalogs was a shopping application for tablet or computers, which was produced by Google in August 2011, and it discontinued the service in 2015.

  • Helpouts by Google

Google Helpouts was an online collaboration service, which launched in November 2013 and allowed users to share their expertise through live video and provide real-time help. On 2015, Google closed the product.

  • Google Moderator

It was an issue tracking system and the tech giant Google unveiled the service in 2008 and shutdown it in 2015.

  • Picasa

It was an online photo editing and sharing tool which was launched in 2002 and shutdown in 2016.

  • Google Code

The Google Code was another addition to the list of dead Google products, its a project hosting service which was unveiled in 2006 and close in 2016.

  • Google Panoramio

It was a photo-sharing service by the Mountain View company Google which was powered by geo-location, the company started it in 2005 and closed it in 2016.

  • Project Ara

The Project Ara was a modular smartphone project and it was headed by the advanced technology and projects team of the Motorola when it was under the belt of Google. The company started in 2014 and ended it in 2016.

  • Google Talk

The Google Talk alias G Talk, was the most popular instant messaging application before the arrival of WhatsApp and that kind of mobile applications. The Google Talk allowed users to chat as well as voice and video calls, the company started it in 2005 and shutdown in 2017.

  • Google Spaces

It was another effort of Google in the social networking field, the Google Spaces allowed users to discuss various matters and it was started in 2016 and closed it in 2017.

It was another popular Google products, it allowed users to shorten the links, the company started the service in 2009 and shutdown it in 2018.

  • Google+

The Google+ was another Google product in the social networking field, the company started it in 2011 and shutdown it in 2018.
