The very popular payments application PhonePe has announced the new PhonePe UPI 123Pay and becomes the first major third-party application provider (TPAP) to extend UPI payments to over 200 million feature phone users in the country. It is actually based on a robust SMS-based architecture and the platform enables seamless peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers via mobile numbers or UPI IDs, alongside peer-to-merchant (P2M) payments through UPI IDs and QR code scanning for feature phone users.
With the help of the new PhonePe UPI 123Pay, feature phone users will be able to make digital transactions without an Internet connection. They can also manage their accounts, check account balances, and view transaction histories. So let’s check out the step-by-step guide to send money using PhonePe UPI 123Pay.
How to make payment using PhonePe UPI 123Pay
- Feature phone users can open the PhonePe app and explore various methods to make payment including Scan & Pay/ Contact Book/ Mobile Number or Pay to UPI
You need to select “Pay to Mobile Number/Pay to UPI ID”
Then simply enter the mobile number/ UPI ID
For feature phones with camera support, users can also use the “scan and pay” option to complete the payments
Verify the details and enter the amount and UPI PIN then press OK to confirm and pay
You can check the next screen confirming successful payment
It is worth mentioning that the new capability is available on the devices of Nokia, HMD, LAVA International and Itel Mobile- Transsion Holdings devices.
