The very popular payments application PhonePe has officially introduced the PhonePe UPI 123Pay in India. It is meant for feature phone users and the same will enable users to make digital transactions without a smartphone or an Internet connection. First of all, we want to congratulate PhonePe on becoming the first major third-party application provider (TPAP) to extend UPI payments to over 200 million feature phone users in the country.
The newly announced PhonePe UPI 123Pay uses a robust SMS-based architecture and the platform enables seamless peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers via mobile numbers or UPI IDs, alongside peer-to-merchant (P2M) payments through UPI IDs and QR code scanning.
Moreover, the new setup will also enable feature phone users to manage their accounts, check account balances and view transaction histories. It is also revealed that the upcoming updates will bring capabilities like bill payments, recharges, and Aadhaar-based onboarding onto UPI.
PhonePe has also introduced a voice-first, AI-powered helpline that will be helping you to setup and activation. The conversational voice assistant will be available in English and 12 Indian languages. It has the power of the advanced speech processing and AI reasoning.
How to register for PhonePe UPI 123Pay?
Now let’s check out the steps to register PhonePe UPI 123Pay and it is pretty easy. You can follow the steps below.
- You need to open the PhonePe app pre-installed on your feature phone.
Then Read & Accept the Terms & Conditions to complete the automated device registration.
Now you have to your bank.
After that, enter the last 6 digits of your debit card and its expiry date.
Now the application will ask you to set your UPI PIN. Your UPI ID is now active, and you can start digital transactions.
