Chinese manufacturer Huawei is planning to launch an application processor that combines all CPU, GPU ,and AI functions announced during the 2017 China Internet Conference in Beijing.
Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu discussed the project that the new processor would support Huawei’s EMUI interface and would likely launch in the second half of the year. He didn’t mention any other specifications regarding the processor.
If the new AI focused chip uses the Cortex-A75, then it seems likely to be Kirin 970 which is expected to get in Huawei Mate 10. There will likely be various improvements over the Kirin 960 in terms of the Fabrication process and the GPU.But Richard Yu didn’t leak anything about Kirin 970 SoC at the conference. He focused only on the chip. He also revealed that it would support China only credit transfers. Huawei pay supports more than 50 banks and public transportation systems.
