Huawei just launched two of their premium or I would say flagship smartphones of 2018, the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. Both these phones come with some awesome specifications and the P20 Pro also packs up Triple Camera Setup. If you recall over the past few generations, Huawei is also launching a special edition of all their flagship smartphones i.e. the Porsche Edition. So along with these two devices, Huawei also launched Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS in collaboration with Porsche. So let’s have a look at this device.

First let’s talk about the display, because here’s the USP of this device. It sports a 6 inch Quad HD AMOLED display with the resolution of 2880 x 1440. This smartphone has the typical 18:9 aspect ratio instead of the different 18.7:9 ratio on P20 and P20 Pro, that’s because this Porsche Edition doesn’t have any notch. Not surprisingly, this Mate RS smartphone carries an in-display fingerprint sensor within it. So now you can place your fingerprint sensor on the lower side of the display to unlock the phone. For backup, they are also providing a normal fingerprint sensor at the back. The body is made up of the metal back and of course glass front. The edges are beautifully curved just like recent Galaxy S series smartphones.
Now coming to the another USP of this phone, the Camera or the Triple Camera which is same as Huawei P20 Pro. Talking about the bunch of two cameras, the main camera is a 40MP sensor with f1.8 lens and OIS whereas the secondary camera is an 8MP telephoto sensor with f2.4 lens. The third or the separated camera is a 20MP monochrome sensor with f1.6 lens. Some of the advantage having triple camera setup is 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, surprising maximum ISO level of 102,400 , quick autofocus, portrait shots, background effects and lighting. It has dual tone LED flash. This camera setup has 4 types of autofocus system: laser, contrast, PDAF, and depth sensor. This camera can recording 720p slow-motion videos at 960fps, which seems to be a trend nowadays. Also, the AI technology will give several other features as well. On the front there’s a 24MP shooter with f2.0 lens, and it can take portrait shots and has face unlock feature. And the AI technology will bring more functionalities within.

Moving on, It comes with Huawei’s own Kirin 970 octa core processor with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. It has 6GB of RAM along with two storage variants, the based variant itself has 256GB of internal storage, while the higher-end variant has a whopping 512GB of internal storage which is the first time for any smartphone. This phone runs on latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with their own EMUI 8.1 on top. This phone is packed with 4000mAh battery with Huawei’s Super Charge support. Regarding connectivity options it has 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio, USB Type-C Port, IR Blaster, and NFC.
Pricing and Availability:
- The 256GB variant is priced at €1,695 (INR 1,36,470 or USD 2105).
- The 512GB variant is priced at €2,095 (INR 1,68,680 or USD 2602).
- It will be available from 12th of April in selected market.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. This phone looks pretty awesome with a dual fingerprint sensor for the first time, Triple Camera Setup, whopping 512GB of storage, and beautiful design. But our faces were surely gone sad when we looked at the pricing. This price proved that this Porsche Edition is specially made for some millionaires. But seems like we are moving towards a good smartphone future with these three highlighted features. Well, what are your thoughts on this device? Do share your thoughts in the comment section below.
