Huawei has officially introduced its new Smartwatch dubbed the Huawei Watch 5 and the device is launched with X-Tap sensor for fingertip SpO₂, ECG, eSIM calling and the device also comes with gesture controls among others. So let’s get into the article to learn the full details.

The newly announced Huawei Watch 5 is available in two sizes such as 46mm and 42mm. The 46mm model features a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display, while the 42mm variant has a 1.38-inch screen. Both displays feature a peak brightness of 3000 nits and a 466×466 pixels resolution. The company has implemented a premium mix of materials, using spherical sapphire glass and a blend of aerospace-grade titanium, 904L stainless steel, and 316L stainless steel.
It also comes with the X-Tap sensor and the same is located on the side of the watch that houses an ECG sensor, a PPG sensor, and a 10-level tactile sensor. It is said to be capable for real-time fingertip blood oxygen (SpO₂) readings in about 10 seconds and the device can initiate a “Health Glance” scan that can offer a summary of 11 key health metric in just under a minute. The latest X-Tap relies on fingertip pulse wave signals.
The Huawei Watch 5 also supports gesture recognition and the same is enabled by a dedicated neural processing unit. Double-tapping or sliding the thumb and index finger controls calls, music playback, alarms, and the remote camera shutter. This will be working when the device is connected with Huawei smartphones. The device also features over 100 workout modes with the power of the new Sunflower Positioning System.
Huawei has introduced the new Huawei Watch 5 with eSIM for phone-free calling, Wi-Fi 6, dual-band GNSS positioning, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC payments. The device also features 5 ATM water resistance and IP69 standard The 46mm model lasts up to 4.5 days in standard mode and up to 11 days in battery saver mode and the 42mm version lasts up to 3 days in standard usage and up to 7 days in saver mode. The device supports wireless charging as well.
Regarding the pricing and availability, the latest Huawei Watch 5 price of Europe starts at €449.99 for the 42mm variant and €649.99 for the high-end titanium versions of the 46mm model. The device will be available from May 26.
