It seems that Reliance is entering into the world of criptocurrency with the launch of its new JioCoin in collaboration with Polygon. It is worth mentioning that there is no official announcement of the same.
However, the users of JioSphere web browser reportedly getting JioCoin and it is a crypto token built on top of Ethereum Layer 2. It is currently listed on Polygon which is a cryptocurrency platform. It is also said that many JioSphere users also getting JioCoin on the Android and iOS devices as well.
Going through the FAQ section, Reliance mentions that “JioCoins are blockchain-based reward tokens and users can be able to earn and engage with different mobile or internet-based apps as decided by Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) using their Indian-based mobile numbers.
It is also said that when users get engaged with the various Jio apps, they can earn Web3 tokens and the same can be deposited into their wallets. The value of the coin is said to depend on user engagement.
We don’t have any information about the value of JioCoin or how it can be traded at the moment of time.
