Following the likes of Facebook lite and Twitter lite, LinkedIn has now joined the club by launching LinkedIn Lite for Android. Not to mention, that LinkedIn is already having a lighter version of its website. The Professional networking site’s app is now available for less than 1MB.
As of now, LinkedIn Lite has just been launched for Indian users but it will be expanded eventually for 60 other data-hungry countries. Out of the 500 Million app downloads globally, India accounts for 42 Million LinkedIn users which grew at a healthy rate of 40% in 2 years.
By introducing the liter version of the app, LinkedIn is obviously trying to expand it’s user base in a country which has always been considered as a sleeping giant amongst the Social networking sites. Moreover, it allows the users to access the site where the connectivity is pathetic and to give a flawless experience. LinkedIn claims that the app loading times are much quicker than it was before and it conserves data up to 80%.
These changes don’t mean that you’re sacrificing some features for the sake of data conservation. Users can still perform every task that they usually do on the LinkedIn app like news feed, jobs, profile, messaging, notifications and search without issues. The app is just launched for Android platform and there are no plans of launching it to iOS.
