In India, Apple contracts Winstron, a Taiwanese manufacturer with a plant in solar, India to assemble iPhone to sell in surrounding places and in other regions. Now the protest has been broken out over the weekend because wages of factory workers have been held. The protest now has broken into a riots and thousands of iPhone has now been looted out from the assembling factory.
As per the report published by The Times of India, Wistron claimed that the iPhone now suffers a estimated overall damage about Rs 437 crore. This is estimated above the damages to the factory assembly line, factory property, and above the thousands of stolen iPhone. The protest and the violence lasted about to two hours within the 2hours many damages was reported. This protects was reported on this Saturday.
State Labour Minister says that Wistron contracted six companies to hire 8900 workers at the kolar assembling factory. The contractors were paid by the company for their labourers, but Wistron had already been in conflict with contract labourers for as long three months, according to the government. The Labour Ministry condemned the conflict as “unexpected”.
Industrial Minister attributed the conflict as the violence happened due to miscommunication between the three parties: Wistron, the labour contractors, and the employees. He added that the company has already paid the employees salaries but the labour contractors have delayed the to make the payments to the employees.
The labour department has issued notices to Wistron, saying that the company will be give three days to pay the employees, Whether its from Wistron or for the middle men the labour contractors. Kolar police is now investigating about the violence and conflict happened in the assembling factory. The police is investigating whether the violence was planned as international act to destroy or to create distraction of company property.
