MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 920 and Dimension 810 5G SoC as the latest models to join the growing Dimensity 900 and 800 series portfolios. Both are 64-bit chipsets that support high refresh rate displays, and come with variegated multi-processing and support for multi-camera setups. MediaTek Dimensity 920 supports Wi-Fi 6, while Dimensity 810 supports Wi-Fi 5. The Dimensity 810 SoC is designed for mainstream mid-range phones, however, it is not clear which smartphones these SoCs will be the first to introduce.
MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC Details
The MediaTek Dimensity 920 is a 6nm SoC clocked at 2.5GHz for each set of arm Cortex-A78 and Arm Cortex-A55 CPU cores and the second at 2.0GHz.The CPU is paired with one arm’s Mali-G68MC4 GPU, which offers 9% faster gaming performance than the SoC Dimensity 900.It supports LPDDR4x, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 2.1 and UFS 3.1 storage. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6, 5G, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NavIC and more.
In terms of display support, the Dimensity 920 SoC can operate displays from 2,560×1,080 pixels up to 120Hz. For video encoding, it can be encoded in H.264 and H.265 / HEVC. The chipset can process a single 108-megapixel camera or two 20-megapixel sensors, as well as 4K video recording.
MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC details
The Amte Cortex-A55 and Arm Cortex-A76 CPU cores on each set of MediaTek Dimensity 810 maximum clock speed is 2.4GHz. It is also a 6nm chipset, with eight cores paired with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. RAM support is limited to LPDDR4x and storage is limited to UFS 2.2. In terms of connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.1, NavIC, GPS and more. The MediaTek Dimension 810 SoC can process a 64-megapixel camera sensor or a 16-megapixel dual sensor. It supports 2,560×1,080 pixel resolution displays with upgrade rates up to 120Hz.
