MediaTek Unveiled Dimensity 1000 5G Chipset With Dual 5G Support

We all know that 5G is the future of connectivity. Just like 4G, this next gen network will also open a lot of ways to connect through the world. Many OEMs are trying to adopt 5G in their own ways, and one of them is MediaTek. This Taiwanese mobile chipset manufacturer is also getting it’s hand into 5G connectivity in their chipsets. Back in July the OEM announced that their 5G modem is ready and we will soon get to see a chipset with in-house 5G modem. Now they officially announced this new chipset, which is named as ‘Dimensity 1000 5G’.

Dimensity 1000 5G Specs :

This Dimensity 1000 5G is the flagship grade chipset from MediaTek. It has in-built as well as in-house 5G modem i.e. Helio M70 modem. As it’s in-built, it will take less space compared to any processor + modem. It is the first chipset to support dual 5G network, meaning you can use 5G on both SIM slots. It supports download speed up to 4.7Gbps download speed and 2.5Gbps upload speed, below 6Ghz frequency bands. It comes with latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support as well. OEMs can add up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, but that’s a futuristic thing as of now.

Performance :

This is MediaTek’s high performing processor, which is claimed to give head to head competition to current Qualcomm flagship processors, like Snapdragon 855/855+. It’s an octa core processor with four powerful Cortex A77 cores clocked at 2.6Ghz each, and four power efficient Cortex A55 cores clocked at 2.0Ghz each. The GPU used here is Mali-G77 MC9. The benchmark results of this processor is very impressive. AnTuTu score of Dimensity 1000 5G is 4,80,000 and Geekbench 4.2 score is 12,406. In comparison the Snapdragon 855+ scores 4,90,000 on AnTuTu and 11,000 on Geekbench 4.2.

Camera :

Speaking about the camera ISP (Image Signal Processing), this Dimensity 1000 5G has 5-core ISP. With this the processor can capture up to 24 images per second at 80MP resolution. It can support multiple cameras up to 32MP+16MP. The telephoto, depth, and HDR lenses can be added separately. Speaking about the video recording, it support up to 4K at 60fps. Interestingly, this is the first mobile chipset to support multi-frame HDR videos. We can expect some great video recording quality from this MediaTek processor.

Availability :

Smartphones with Dimensity 1000 5G will launch in Q1 of 2020. It will first appear in China and other Asian markets. In USA it will arrive by Q2 of 2020. Speaking about India, we doubt that it will launch here, or at least with 5G, because we still don’t know when India will get 5G networks.
