MediaTek Unveiled Kompanio 900T 5G Chipset With 2K Display Support For Tablets, Notebooks

MediaTek launched Kompanio 900T SoC for tablets, portable notebooks and other devices.

The Kompanio 900T is built on a latest 6nm technology and has octa-core CPU architecture with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores.  It is also supported with ARM Mali-G68 GPU and MediaTek APU (AI processor).  Other features include LPDDR5 memory, 120Hz refresh rate, 2G resolution display with 5G and Wi-Fi.  The Kompanio chipset also supports HDR10 + video playback image quality enhancement features.

The company says that the new MediaTek Kompanio 900T chipset will be available soon.  It supports LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.  The display is compatible with 2K resolution with 120Hz refresh rate.  The chipset combines 5G modem with support for SA and NSA bands, full coverage of 5G sub-6 GHz, 5G dual-carrier aggregations and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services.  The mobile chipset features MediaTek 5G Ultrasound Power-Saving technology, which extends battery life even when using faster connectivity.

MediaTek Kompanio 900T 2×2 supports MIMO, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2, and allows multiple peripheral extensions.  MediaTek’s Mira vision image quality engine and AI-enhanced video display features claim to upgrade SDR video content to HDR standards and upgrade to HDR10+ near to HDR10 +.  Kompanio chipset also supports HDR10 + video playback image enhancement features.

MediaTek claims that Kompanio chipsets integrate Chrome book laptops and tablets.  It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

Last month, MediaTek announced the Dimension 920 and Dimension 810 5G SoCs.  Octa-core and 64-bit chipsets support higher upgrade rate displays, and come with a variety of multi-processing features as well as support for multi-camera settings.  MediaTek Dimension 920 has support for Wi-Fi 6, while Dimension 810 is limited to Wi-Fi 5 support.
