After lots of leaks, rumours and couple of confirmations, today Xiaomi has unveiled its latest and greatest flagship smartphone called Mi 9. I don’t believe that I need to explain much more about the device because it was in the headlines from the past couple of weeks. Specifications of Mi 9
The smartphone sports a 6.39-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution along with 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and has a waterdrop-like notch. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and matted with 6 GB and 8 GB RAM along with Adreno 640 GPU for the graphical task. In terms of storage, the device has 128 GB of internal storage.
Coming to the photography department, it is the most sensational area of the device, as it is the first device of the company which rocks triple rear camera setup and that is in the combination of 48 megapixel Sony IMX586 + 12 megapixel Samsung S5K3M5 telephoto lens + 16 megapixel Sony IMX481 117-degree ultra-wide angle lens. At front, the all new Mi 9 offers 20 megapixel camera for the selfies and video calls. The device supports face unlock and in-display fingerprint scanner for the extra layer of security.
Regarding the connectivity options, the Mi 9 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, IR blaster, and a USB Type-C port. The flagship smartphone runs on the runs Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 atop, and ships on 3,300 mAh battery that supports 20W wireless charging alongside 27W wired fast charging support.
Along with the Mi 9, the company has launched the Mi 9 Transparent Edition and the device comes with 12 GB of RAM, seven-piece lens with an f/1.47 aperture on top of the primary lens, and full-surface transparent back. Apart from this, everything remains the same.
Pricing and availability
The 6 GB RAM variant is priced at 2999 yuan (approx. ₹31,700), and the 8 GB RAM variant has the price tag of 3299 yuan (approx. ₹34,900). The Mi 9 Transparent Edition is priced at 3999 yuan (approx. ₹42,300). Both the regular and Transparent Edition will be available from 26th February in China, and there is no information about the availability of the device in other parts of the world.
