Microsoft kills Windows Phone Officially

Microsoft ended support for it’s Windows Phone 8.1 officially, which is said to be the most popular version of its mobile Operating System.


The windows phone 8.1 runs on more than 80%of Windows handset, won’t receive any further updates from the maker. The users will have to adjust to the current OS or either move on to new devices.The tile-based design was different from other OS, but it never really became popular.


The Windows phone includes Lumia  735, Lumia 930, Lumia 830, and Lumia 1520 which is running Windows 8.1. The support for version windows 8 and windows 7 ended its service long before.Windows already have less contact with other apps compared with Android and iOS. Now the company stopped its entire support over the existing OS.


Developers were also not interested in creating apps for such a small user base. The lack of support by developers also affected the market value for the devices.


Under the leadership of Satya Nadella, Microsoft has undergone major changes, one of which is making its apps and services available on rival platforms. We’ll need to wait few more days for further announcement on any other launch by Microsoft. Recently Satya Nadella has teased of launching new smartphones like the surface phone (rumored).let us wait and see for future plans of Microsoft.
