The Developer’s Preview of upcoming Android Q for Pixel devices will come soon, maybe in this month or early April. And on May 7th, Google will release Android Q Beta version for few non-pixel smartphones, if the company will follow the schedule of Android Pie Beta. Last year some non-pixel smartphones also got the Beta version of Android P, which was a new step towards faster updates. Now today we got a new update, which suggests more number of smartphones in this list.
Illiyan Malchev, Android Developer at Google, announced on the latest Android Developers Backstage podcast that they will go through the same route of Android Q Developer and Beta program as last year. For Android Q Beta program, Google will add more smartphones in the list this year. Last year there were total of 7 non-pixel smartphones in this program. He didn’t revealed exact number of smartphones, which are going to add. But he said that the number will increase this time, because of the response they got for this program last year.
I am expecting smartphone from OEMs like Asus, Huawei, and Pocophone might get added into the list this time. Apart from Pixels, below are the smartphones that were part of Android P Beta program last year:
- OnePlus 6/6T
- Essential PH-1
- Oppo R15 Pro
- Mi Mix 2s
- Sony Xperia XZ2
- Vivo X21
- Nokia 7 Plus
So that’s all the information we have as of now. What are your thoughts on this news? Is there any new OEM that you are expecting to join the program this time? Let us know in the comment section below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
