Motorola has finally launched the 2019 version of its most successful Moto G lineup, the Moto G8 Plus. Even though from the past few years the craze of Motorola is not up to the mark, there are some Moto G series fans who are still waiting for a value smartphone. So does this Moto G8 Plus stands on the fan’s expectations? Let’s find out.
Design, Display & Configuration:

Starting off with the design of this Moto G8 Plus, there’s a reflective plastic at the back which is a let down to it’s predecessor that had a glass back. On the front, there’s a 6.3 inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ (2280×1080) resolution and 400 pixel density (ppi). This device has splash resistance but lacks any layer of protection for the display. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 octa core processor clocked at 2.0Ghz along with Adreno 610 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, along with MicroSD card support up to 512GB.
Camera:
Talking about the camera, this is a major upgrade from Moto G7 Plus as the Moto G8 Plus comes with Triple Camera Setup at the back. Primary is a 48MP Samsung sensor with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, and laser autofocus. Then there’s a 16MP wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture. Lastly, the third one is a 5MP depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The primary camera can record videos up to 4K at 30fps, and at 1080p with EIS. Good thing is that the wide-angle lens can also record videos up to 1080p, which is rare to see in mid-range. At the front, there’s a 25MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and video recording up to 1080p.
Other Specifications:

This Moto G8 Plus runs on stock Android 9 Pie out of the box. It packs in a 4,000 mAh battery along with 15W Turbocharging. The fingerprint sensor is mounted at the back, and software-based face unlock is also present. There’s a stereo speaker setup, where the earpiece also acts as a speaker. For connectivity, it has 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Infrared sensor, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Type-C port. It weighs at 188 grams and is 9.1mm thick. There are two colour options for the device; Cosmic Blue and Crystal Pink.
Pricing & Availability:
- This smartphone is priced at €269/£232/₹13,999
- It will be available in Europe and the UK starting October 28.
- In India, it will be available exclusively from Flipkart, though the date of availability is not available.
- No information about the availability in countries like India yet.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Personally, this is a good upgrade over its predecessor, but lack of glass back is a letdown. And in competitive markets like India, I don’t think it will give any competition. The only popular device it can compete is Mi A3. Well, what are your thoughts on Moto G8 Plus?
