[UPDATE: This Mobile Plan of Rs.250 is now available for everyone. And seems like Netflix might not remove this plan anytime soon. Enjoy! ]
If we talk about subscription-based web content in India, Netflix and Amazon Prime are the names that come in minds of most of us. If we compare the subscription price of all the services in India, Netflix is the most expensive amongst all. Keeping that in mind, Netflix is planning for cheaper subscription rates in India.
A new report from Economic Times says that Netflix is testing cheaper plans for selected users in India. This plan is supposed to be priced at Rs.250, which is half the price from the current basic plan of Rs.500. But there will be a condition that this cheaper plan will only be supported on Mobile Device. It means users won’t be able to play Netflix on PC, TV, etc. Maybe Netflix has gone with this idea due to the insanely rising numbers of smartphone users in India. The HD quality will not be available with this plan, only SD quality will be available. Also, users can’t connect more than one device at a time.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Do note that Netflix is only testing this plan in the country, and they might not release this plan for the Indian public. But if they launch, will you purchase this plan or opt for a regular plan for HD quality and more device support? Let us know in the comment section below. Also, stay tuned with us for more information.
