Few days back we got a rumor which suggested that Qualcomm will launch its next gen flagship chipset a bit earlier than usual. The rumor also mentioned that Xiaomi might be the first OEM to launch a smartphone with this new chipset. Today, we got a new report which mentions some specs of the 2022’s one of the most powerful smartphone processor. So, let’s have a look.
According to famous Chinese leakster “Ice Universe”, the upcoming Qualcomm’s flagship will be named as Snapdragon 898. Earlier rumors suggested that it will be named as Snapdragon 895, but that’s not the case according to this leak. So, this new Snapdragon 898 will have a new primary Cortex X2 core clocked at 3.09Ghz. This is a slight boost from current 2.84Ghz Kryo 680 core of Snapdragon 888 and 3Ghz Kryo 680 core of recently launched Snapdragon 888 Plus. So basically, Qualcomm will bring ARM’s tech into their prime core of their flagship processor, let’s see what will happen.

By the way, some other leaks also says that it will be company’s first processor built on 4nm technology, made by Samsung. And Qualcomm will change the pattern of its CPU clusters from 1+3+4 cluster cores, to 1+3+2+2 cluster cores. This will happen probably to make the chipset more efficient and to keep it cooler. As the Snapdragon 888 has some overheating issues and it’s not a great chipset for battery efficiency.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. What are your expectations from the Snapdragon 898 chipset? Do you think the companies should make the processor ISP better for some great image processing and they should also make the processors to stay cool for heavy gaming sessions? Instead of just increasing performance with slight margin every year? Let us know in the comment section below.
