When Nokia launched the Android powered Nokia 3, 5 & 6 smartphones at MWC in February, they promised for the latest software updates as well as security updates. Also the Nokia 5 & 6 came with latest Android 7.1.1 nougat while Nokia 3 came with a bit old Android 7.0 nougat. After launching Nokia 3 globally, many people were expecting the Android 7.1.1 update. Now after many questions, Nokia has an answer to this.
Got a few questions on this so wanted to confirm that #Nokia3 will receive 7.1.1 update by end of August. @nokiamobile

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, has announced on his Twitter handle that Nokia 3 will get Android 7.1.1 update by the end of August. He also stated that this update will rollout globally, not to any or some specific region(s). Well this seems to be a good gesture as Nokia has already promised Android O for all three devices. They would have simply skipped the Android 7.1.1 and directly release Android O. But they are releasing the Android 7.1.1 which defines that they are serious with software support, even for their entry level device.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. So are you impressed with this gesture by Nokia or HMD Global? Do let us know in the comments below. Also if you own a Nokia 3, just wait for end of August and do let us know when you get the update. Stay tuned with us for more information.
