Nokia’s product lineup will soon receive Face Unlock feature

HMD Global Holds An Event On May 29

Nokia has announced in a Tweet that its lineup of budget and premium smartphones will soon receive face Unlock feature in upcoming months.

Nokia’s budget and premium segment smartphones, Nokia 6 (2018),  Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8  and Nokia 8 Sirocco will receive face unlock feature in upcoming months via OTA update. This will bring Nokia smartphones to the current trend.

The Face unlocks feature will be software based since those above-mentioned smartphones are not hardware capable to make use of sensors for Face unlock feature like Apple iPhone X.  But the software will use modern algorithms to use the Face unlock feature efficiently like the Nokia X6 which has debuted with Face unlock feature right from the factory.

HMD Global is stepping into this new segment of the feature since from its Nokia 6 first debuted, it had never tried the feature in any of the device lineups. However, to be updated with modern norms, as Notch, 18:9 display ratio, AI guidance and Face unlock feature is considered as Smartphone norms in recent times. Nokia has opted for it now. Apart from this Nokia device lineups will also receive Android P update soon. But Nokia 7 Plus users have already received Android P Beta 2 this week. Nokia on its correct path!
