It’s almost 2 months lesser than a year, when OnePlus announced that OnePlus 3/3T will get Android Pie update as well. Last month OnePlus released Community Beta 1 update based on Pie, following to Community Beta 2 earlier this month. Both are sort of testing versions of Pie. Users experience the new software and report bugs if found any. Now the Pie is baked and OnePlus released this new stable update for every OnePlus 3/3T.
OnePlus released OxygenOS 9.0.2 for OnePlus 3/3T based on Android 9.0 Pie. With this both these smartphones will taste their third major Android update. It’s rare in Android ecosystem that any smartphone gets more than two Android updates. After Google Pixel, OnePlus becomes first ever Android OEM to provide third update to their smartphone. Below is the changelog of OxygenOS 9.0.2 update –
Updated system to Android™ 9 Pie™
Brand new UI for Android Pie
Updated Android security patch to 2019.4
- Do Not Disturb mode
You can now customize the time range in the new Do Not Disturb mode
- New Gaming mode 3.0
Supported displaying text content of the heads up notifications
Added notification for 3rd party calls
Dialer now supports Google Duo
Supports Google Lens to provide you with powerful image recognition experience
General bug fixes and improvements
This update will rollout as Over-the-air (OTA) to selected users. This time OnePlus will send the update randomly, not on the basis of region. So using VPN to get the update instantly won’t work this time.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. It’s a bit late but also a very good improvement from the past. OnePlus has learnt a lot from the OnePlus 2 Nougat update scenario. Now as I use OnePlus 3, so I will post a review of OnePlus 3 running stable Pie in near future, and will compare the update with Android Oreo and both Pie Community Beta updates. Stay tuned with us for more information.
