Update (30th March, 2018) : After getting negative feedback from many users on twitter, OnePlus Co-founder Carl Pei deleted his statement regarding the notch on OnePlus 6. So we have around 5 to 10% hope that OnePlus might not add the notch on OnePlus 6.
If we saw the journey of the First quarter of 2018, you will clearly notice that smartphones with that notch design are increasing. Many Chinese vendors are trying to somehow copy iPhone X by giving this notch to their smartphones. Now most of us have an idea that OnePlus will also implement this design language on it’s new flagship smartphone. Now today, we got a confirmation on this along with an image. So let’s have look.
First, let’s talk about the image, this image shows us the top side of the display of OnePlus 6. Here we can clearly see that notch between the top end of the display. In the notch only the basic stuff is present i.e. earpiece, sensors and front camera. Nothing special here. This notch surely looks smaller as compared to iPhone X, but it is similar to what we have seen on OPPO R15. This leak also gives us an idea about the wallpaper that’s specially designed for OnePlus 6. Personally speaking, there will be some similarities between the wallpaper of both OnePlus 6 and iPhone X.
Now coming to the second part i.e. confirmation. Around 40 minutes after the source posted this leak, OnePlus’s Co-founder Carl Pei quoted the Tweet and writes ‘Learn to love the notch 😉’. This line clearly states that the OnePlus 6 will have the notch design for sure. Now that seems to be very interesting if the OnePlus can implement good software support to use this notch feature. Good software support in the sense that the software should be perfectly optimised for the notch. Because I highly doubt that many of those Chinese vendors will provide good software support for the notch.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. Seems like we might expect the OnePlus 6 to get launched either in late April, early May, or maybe mid-May. Soon we will get information regarding the launch date as well. Now, what are your thoughts on this step for OnePlus going for notch design? Do let us know in the comments below.
