Possibly the one of most favorite of apps among the people, Opera Max has been discontinued by the firm now. Three years after launching the data saving app with intentions to reduce the data usage of the data scarce users Opera has withdrawn the app now from the Play Store.
Opera Max literally compressed the data before your device sucking it with apps thus saving a handful of data. This mechanism came in as a life-saver for data thirst users especially before the arrival of Jio. This directly ended up in the reduction of monthly tariff for users and proved to be really handy.
According to Opera, however, Opera Max “represented a different focus” for the company, since Opera now focuses on its browsers and upcoming services. As a result, Opera Max will be discontinued and no further updates will be given to the existing users. So if you already have the Opera Max app you need not wary as you don’t need to abandon that immediately. Not to mention, that Opera Max was finally given an update on July 14 and this will remain as the last and final update for the app.
Opera will now concentrate on browser only stuffs and will try to make a mark in that discipline. Opera’s browsers already include data-saving features, though Opera Max worked across a swath of apps and not just Opera’s browsers. Still, Opera said it will maintain the Opera Max services for existing users for a “period of time,” but Opera will announce the termination of server-side support sometime in the near future.
