If we talk about the background of Chinese smartphone giant Oppo, then there are some interesting facts to know. Many of you don’t know that Oppo is a sub-brand of China-based BBK Electronics. This BBK Electronics has two other sub-brands who are well-known smartphones OEMs now, Vivo and OnePlus. Yes, you read that correctly, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are all co-related with each other, indirectly. That’s the reason why the design of OnePlus 5 is very similar to Oppo R11. Now seems like this BBK Electronic is doing something unique by launching a sub-sub-brand.

A new smartphone from a brand ‘realme’ is teased on Amazon India. This is the sub-brand of Oppo. So technically this is a sub-brand of a sub-brand. In India, this will be launched in partnership with Amazon India, which means that this upcoming smartphone will be sold exclusively via Amazon India. Speaking about the teaser, it doesn’t show any specs, but only the back side of the device.
As you can see from the image above, you will clearly notice that the phone will just have a single camera setup, so this smartphone will be a budget-oriented smartphone. Also, the fingerprint sensor is not located at the back, so maybe it’s located on the front or it will not have the same. If it will not have the fingerprint sensor, then they should give the face unlock feature because it’s 2018, and even budget phone does have either fingerprint sensor or face unlock. Talking about the looks of the back, it looks very similar to Oppo A3 which is launched in China last week. Maybe the Oppo A3 will launch under the branding of realme, because even the Oppo A3 lacks the fingerprint sensor.
Regarding this new brand realme, Oppo said that this brand will aim the budget segment smartphones, and the price will vary from INR 10,000 to INR 20,000. This smartphone will launch on 15th of May, as mentioned in the teaser. Also, this smartphone is said to be youth-oriented, in terms of design. So it will be interesting to see what different design this realme will bring with their debut smartphone. Hope that it will not be just a gimmick, and it will actually have a different design.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. I think that this smartphone should compete with the brand like Xiaomi & Honor in terms of value for money, because if this company will also go like Oppo’s pricing, then it will not survive in India’s competitive market. Now, what are your thoughts on this device? Do let me know in the comment section below. Also, stay tuned with us for more information.
