Few days earlier we got to know that Oppo is going to unveil it’s Reno 2 series smartphones in India. Since then we saw many leaks on this series. Now today Oppo finally unveiled three new smartphones in Reno 2 series. They are Reno 2, Reno 2Z, and Reno 2F. All share some specs but there is a lot of difference as well. So let’s talk about them.
Oppo Reno 2:
This is the premium most smartphone amongst the three. It sports 6.5 inch Dynamic AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2400×1080) resolution and 405 pixel density (ppi). The screen to body ratio is 93.1% here and it’s 20:9 aspect ratio display. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G octa core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz and built on 8nm process. The ‘G’ on the name denoted to graphics, so it has Adreno 618 GPU offering best gaming amongst Snapdragon 700 series. It comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, with expandable storage by hybrid slot.
Now let’s talk about the USP of this phone, Camera. This Reno 2 has a Quad Camera setup that consists of 48MP primary sensor with f1.7 lens, 0.8μm pixel size, PDAF, and OIS. Then there’s an 8MP wide angle sensor with f2.2 lens. Then the third one is 13MP Telephoto sensor with f2.4 lens, 5x hybrid zoom and either 2x or 3x optical zoom. Lastly, the fourth sensor is a 2MP Mono sensor for monochromes and portraits. It can record videos up to 4k at 30fps. For selfie, it has 16MP camera fitted inside Oppo’s so called Shark Fin camera mechanism.
The Oppo Reno 2 also has a new visual design, gestures, and Game Space which will avoid the distraction and offer immersive gaming experience. It also features the Hyper Boost 2.0, Frame Boost, and Touch Boost technologies to provide a smooth user experience.
This device runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box with ColorOS 6.1 on top. It packs in a 4000mAh battery with 20W VOOC Charge 3.0 for fast charge. It has under display fingerprint sensor as well. For connectivity it has dual 4G VoLTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Type-C port. It comes with Ocean Green and Jet Black colour options.
Oppo Reno 2Z:
This model comes in middle of all three. It sports 6.53 inch Dynamic AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2340×1080) resolution and 395 pixel density (ppi). It has slightly lower 91.6% screen to body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It comes with MediaTek’s Helio P90 octa core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz each and is built on 12nm processor. For graphics it has PowerVR GM9446 GPU. It has the same 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage along with hybrid expandable storage.
Moving to the camera, though it’s still a Quad Camera setup, sensors are different than regular Reno 2. The primary is the same 48MP sensor (but without OIS) and also the same 8MP wide angle lens. Things change from third sensor because instead of telephoto, it has 1 Mono sensor and 1 Bokeh sensor (both are of 2MP each). The front camera is same 16MP camera but with regular pop-up module. And this device features regular fingerprint scanner. Rest specs are same as Reno 2.
Oppo Reno 2F:
Now coming to the lowest end smartphone of this series, this Reno 2F sports same 6.5 inch AMOLED display as Reno 2Z. It comes with MediaTek’s Helio P70 octa core processor clocked at 2.1 Ghz and is built on 12nm process along with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. In storage it has the same 8GB RAM, but storage is divide with 2 i.e. 128GB. And it still supports expandable storage.
It has the similar Quad Camera setup as Reno 2Z, but the only difference in camera is the primary 48MP sensor this is a Samsung GM1. It features 16MP front camera with pop-up mechanism, along with AI Beauty. Apart from this, everything remains the same.
Pricing and availability:
The Reno 2 is priced at ₹36,990, it will available for pre-order from 10th Sept and offline sale from 20th Sept. While the Reno 2Z has the price tag of ₹29,990, and the smartphone will available from 6th September. The company hasn’t announced the pricing and availability details of the Reno 2F.
