Pixel 4 Gcam Mod Now Available For Older Pixel Devices

Since the launch of Google Pixel 4 series, both smartphones are in trend in many different ways like not launching in India and some security concerns. But still it packs some really good features and because of it’s mind boggling camera, it’s still a good flagship. Talking about camera, some of the features are hardware related which can’t be used on other smartphones properly. But there are some new features which can be ported to others by it’s modified camera app.

What is Gcam ?

As we see every year, Gcam mod of Pixel 4 is now available for older Pixel devices on XDA Forum. For those who don’t know what Gcam is, this is a modified version of camera app found in Pixels, which can be used in other smartphones to get the similar & incredible pictures. That’s because Google focus more on software processing rather than hardware, so the Gcam can utilise the hardware of other smartphones to it’s fullest. This results way better picture quality as compared to default or any other camera app.

What’s new here ?

Talking about this latest Gcam, it’s right now available only for older Pixel smartphones. Here users will get new features like Astrophotography mode and Super Res Zoom. The Astrophotography mode is a new feature which helps to capture difficult night scenario like night sky with stars, etc. This feature gets activated automatically when Night Sight mode is on and the phone is mounted on a tripod or at very stable object. The Super Res Zoom was first introduced with Pixel 3 series last year, but it’s improved now on Pixel 4 series. It takes good quality zoomed picture based on software processing, not with any telephoto lens.

How to Install Gcam ?

You can download the Gcam mode by clicking here. Installing it is as easy as any other apk, just allow your smartphone to install from unknown source, and you are good to go. But make sure that as it’s not from Play Store, it’s not 100% safe. Also make sure you don’t try this on any non-pixel smartphone, because it won’t even install. And also it’s not too stable right now, so don’t use it as default camera app.
