The POCO F1 is in the headlines from past couple of days, and we already got an idea about the device through the leaks and rumors. Well, today the POCO – the subsidiary of Xiaomi has announced the POCO F1 in India at an event in New Delhi. The company claims that it is the fastest smartphone and this is the first Snapdragon 845 powered smartphone under ₹30,000. Having said that, the device is made in India and it is implemented across the manufacturing units of Xiaomi. The POCO F1, which is first flagship smartphone of the Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO, is coming with the polycarbonate back and it looks really nice and it has a bezel-less design. The smartphone is coming in three colours- Graphite Black, Steel Blue, and Rosso Red. Furthermore, it also has a special edition and that’s called Armoured Edition. Well, that is with ‘real Kevlar’.

Display:

The device sports 6.18 inch Full HD+ IPS display and has 2246 x 1080 pixels resolution along with a 19:9 aspect ratio, and the smartphone also follows the trend of notch, but it can hide (thank to the almighty). That said, the display is coming with 2.5D curved and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Under the hood:

The device is powered by the latest and greatest Snapdragon 845 chipset and it also has the LiquidCool technology which will make the device cool during heavy usage. The device is paired with 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM, along with Adreno 630 GPU, and the company claims that the device is coming with 30% improved performance.

In terms of storage, the smartphone is coming in three storage variants; 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM with 128 GB of storage, and 8 GB RAM with 256 GB of internal storage. Well, if the storage is not enough for you then you can expand the storage up to 256 GB via MicroSD card.

Camera:

The POCO F1 comes with a dual camera setup and that’s in the combination of 12 megapixel (Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4-micron pixel, dual-pixel autofocus, and it is the same sensor that Xiaomi uses in the devices such as Mi 8 and Mi Mix 2s) + 5 megapixel (Samsung sensor). That said, the device sports a 20 megapixel front facing camera with HDR and AI Beautify. Moreover, the company claims that the smartphone will give good quality of images even in the low light. And the camera department also has scene recognition features.

Security:

The device comes with the fingerprint scanner and it is placed at the back along with the face unlock feature which is powered by the IR light and it gives more secure way to unlock the device with the user’s face. That said, the company also says that the device can be unlocked with the face unlock feature even in the dark.

Sound:

With the POCO F1, the company wants to satisfy all types of smartphone users, as the device also gives emphasize to the audio. As the company has implemented the Dirac HD Sound support, with a Dual Smart PA. Well, this will give an awesome audio output from the device.

Connectivity:

The smartphone supports include 4G+ (first device to feature this, and it will give good connectivity and faster data), VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Software:

The device runs on Android Oreo 8.1 which is based on MIUI 9.6, and the company promised to roll out the Android 9.0 update before the end of this year. That said, the MIUI 9.6 is coming in a special way in the POCO F1 and it is dubbed as MIUI for POCO, and it offers close to the stock Android UI. As users will get the launcher and app drawer just like a stock Android device. That said, the POCO launcher is coming with some specialties, as the app drawer has the search bar at the bottom of the screen, and you can able to search applications according to the colour; for example: if you select the green colour then the launcher will show all the applications which have the colour green.

The launcher also allows you to hide applications and it also supports third-party icon packs. Moreover, the company will bring the launcher to the Google Play Store by next week, and it will be available through the beta channels. Well, that means the other smartphone users can also hands-on over the new launcher.

Finally, the device is coming with a massive 4,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support and Quick Charge 3 (charger bundled in box).

The pricing of the smartphone starts from ₹20,999 for the 64 GB storage variant, the 128 GB storage variant has been priced at ₹23,999, and the huge 256 GB storage variant has the price tag of ₹28,999. That said, the Armored Edition will available for ₹29,999. The device will be available only via online channels and it will be available exclusively through Flipkart and Mi.com, you can purchase the device from 12 PM on August 29. And the global pricing and availability dates will be revealed on August 27 at Jakarta, Paris, and Hong Kong.
