Redmi 8 Goes Official With 5,000 mAh Battery And More

After being in the headlines for the past couple of weeks, today the new sensation of smartphone industries – Redmi has unveiled its new budget-oriented smartphones and the latest smartphone is dubbed as Redmi 8. The device is coming with all the features for the day to day life and also comes with USB Type-C along with the heavy battery and fast charging technology. Specifications of Redmi 8

The smartphone features a 6.22-inch HD+ display along with a Dot notch on top of it and the display is also protected with the Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and paired with 3GB and 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the device will available in 32GB and 64GB internal storage and that can be expandable via microSD card.

Moving to the photography department, the Redmi 8 rocks dual camera setup at back and that’s in the combination of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Its worth to mention that the primary camera of the rear camera setup is identical to the Mi Mix 2S and Poco F1. The camera also supports AI Portrait and AI Scene Detection features, and the company has claimed to recognize 33 scene categories, including six India-specific categories. The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for the selfies and video calls and the front camera supports artificial intelligence features. Talking about the security features, the device supports the fingerprint scanner as well as face unlock to give the maximum layer of security.

Regarding the connectivity options, the smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, infrared, wireless FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. The Redmi 8 runs on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 and the smartphone ships with 5,000 mAh battery with various AI optimizations and supports 18W fast charging. But there will be a 10W charger in the retail box.

Pricing and availability

The 3GB RAM variant of the device is priced at ₹7,999 and the 4 GB RAM will cost ₹8,999. Having said that, the first 5 million units of the 4GB RAMv variant will be priced at an introductory price of ₹7,999. Well, that’s an incredible offer. It will go on sale from midnight on Saturday, October 12 through Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart.
