Samsung unveiled the first foldable smartphone early this year, and it was in the reality after a huge wait and lots of rumours, but it was not a success as the company faced some issues with the device. Then the company held the launch and done the needful change in the device’s designing setup and now finally the Galaxy Fold is launched in the market.
The relaunched version of Galaxy Fold comes with improved design and construction, the company did not change the overall setup of the device from the original version. In the relaunched version comes with the solution for the hinge as well as the protective layer for the flexible display.
Samsung has now added rubber protection to avoid the dust and other particles getting inside through the foldable part, and the layer on top now at beyond the edges, which means now it can’t accidentally peel.
It has a book like the foldable design. The smaller display has a size of just 4.3 inch with HD+ (1960 x 840) resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. Unfolding the larger display, it has a size of 7.3 inch with resolution of Full HD+ (2152 x 1536 and 16:10 aspect ratio. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 octa core processor that’s built on 7mm process along with Adreno 640 GPU. It has 12GB of massive RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
On the camera department, it has a 12MP sensor with f/1.5 dual aperture lens and dual pixel OIS. Secondary is also a 12MP sensor but with f/2.4 telephoto 2x zoom lens, autofocus, and OIS. Lastly, the third one is 16MP sensor with f/2.2 ultra wide angle (133) lens but with fixed focus. It can record videos up to 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps, and 720p at 960fps. On the front there is a 10MP sensor with f/1.9 lens and Dual Pixel PDAF, and also a secondary 8MP depth sensor with f/2.2 lens and dual pixel autofocus. This device also has 4K video recording option from the front camera. Other camera features are AR Emojis, Stickers, and live focus. Now here comes a difference with a 6th camera. Yes, a 10MP sensor with f/2.2 lens.
This Galaxy Fold runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Samsung’s One UI on top. It packs two sets of batteries within that makes the power of 4,380 mAh combined together. It has fast charging support, but no wireless charging is present. It ha single speaker with Dolby ATMOS support and 32-bit 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the side. Also because of the foldable technology, this is the first smartphone to have three-way multitasking. This means it can open three apps simultaneously on the screen. For connectivity, it has 4G, dual band Wi-FI, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, aptX HD, and Type-C port.
Having said that, the company has also made available the 5G ready variant of the device as well, and it shares the majority of specifications with the regular variant. But the 5G comes with a slightly smaller battery, as the device has 4,235 mAh battery and that is because of the Internal designing setup.
