We all are eagerly waiting for the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus. We have came through some leaks of it already (last leak). But now we got a bunch of new leaks including image, specs, announcement date and also the launch date. All these information may turn our to be true as the source is reliable. So what will Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have, let’s have a look.
First let’s talk about the additional features that Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have. As we already came to many leaks that there will be two variant, S8 and S8 Plus. Regular S8 will have 5.8” display and the Plus variant will have 6.2” display. Both will be Super AMOLED. The resolution of both variants will be 2k, most probably. But the screen aspect ratio is different here compared to other smartphones, 18:5:9. Samsung will also introduce pressure sensitive touch with the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus (Similar to Apple’s 3D touch), but only the lower part of the screen will have this feature.
Samsung will also introduce it’s virtual assistant, Bixby. Rumours are there that it will be more smart and accurate compared to other virtual assistants like Google Assistant, Siri and Cortana. A specific button will be there on both S8 to access the Bixby. Samsung will also introduce the ‘DeX Experience’. It’s connects the phone with monitor, keyboard and mouse with there proprietary connectors. It’s very much similar to Microsoft’s Continuum.

Now coming to regular specs, this Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will come with two processor variants, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 and this year’s unannounced Exynos processor. Both will be based on 10nm FinFET technology so the performance as well as power efficiency will be similar in both the variants. Still the RAM will he only 4GB, not 6GB. But the base variant will have 64GB internal storage with expandable storage. Maybe there will be another variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB/256GB configuration. It will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with newer and better TouchWiz. The battery will differ on both variants, the regular S8 will have 3000 mah battery and the S8 Plus will have 3500mah battery. The battery seems to be similar to Galaxy S7/S7 Edge but as both the processors are built on 10nm FinFET technology that will be 20% more efficient, that means 20% more power. The fingerprint sensor is now at back, but not at the ideal position i.e. below the camera. It’s actually on the side left side of the camera. At the bottom it will have USB type C port and 3.5mm headphones jack. Happy to see Samsung kept the headphone jack.
Now coming to camera, the rear camera’s resolution will be same as Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, 12MP. The aperture is also same f1.7 . The front facing camera’s resolution is boosted up a little, it’s an 8MP shooter with the same f1.7 aperture. But the pixel size may increase a little and the camera sensor will be improved. Another new thing with the camera will be a ‘’Visual Search Engine’ that scans the text behind it like any shopping list, advertisement and lyrics. Than it gives detailed information on the same.
So now it’s time to know the unveiling date, launch and pricing. Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be unveiling on 29th March at New York and will be available from 21st April. Pricing of both the phones in Europe will be €100 more compared to Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. The regular Galaxy S8 will be priced at €799 and the Galaxy S8 Plus will be priced at €899.
