At the main event of MWC 2021 Barcelona, the South Korean electronics giant Samsung unveiled the all-new Samsung One UI Watch for Samsung smartwatches based on Wear OS 3.0. The company might debit this skin for smartwatches in their upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch Active 4.
This makes the move of Samsung to ditch Tizen OS in favour of Google’s Wear OS 3.0 that was unveiled back in the Google I/O 2021 event. In case you did not know the Wear OS 3.0 was developed by Google with the help of Samsung. Let us explore all the new features in the new Samsung One UI Watch.
Samsung One UI Watch features
Starting with the design, as the name suggests the new Watch UI will take design queues from the One UI in the smartphones and have similar fonts and colours along with the same level of customisation. The company also emphasises three aspects of the new UI and these are the ecosystem of apps, synchronization between phone and smartwatch, and watch faces.
One UI watch will have superior sync between the smartphone and the smartwatch in multiple ways. For instance, when you install an app on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone the One UI Watch will also install the same app on the smartwatch if it’s compatible. In addition, it has the capability to sync time zone with the companion Samsung smartphone. If a number is blocked on a Samsung phone, calls from the same will be automatically rejected by the watch.
Samsung has developed a new software kit for interested designers to create unique watch faces for the Galaxy wearables. The company will also let users access apps that are available on the Google Play Store. This will bring all the Wear OS apps in the Google Play Store to your Galaxy smartwatch running Samsung One UI Watch.
