Over the past few years, we have seen a drastic growth in the storage department in smartphones. There was a time when the internal storage of smartphones was 8GB & even 4GB. Now a day 4GB is common in RAM storage and there are smartphones which even has 8GB of RAM. Talking about internal storage in flagship smartphones, 64GB is considered as base variants. Upper variants have 128GB and even 256GB of storage. Back in march Huawei launched P20 Pro Porsche Edition which has huge 512GB of internal storage which is highest till now, or it ‘was’ highest till now.
A smartphone company named as Smartisan has unveiled its flagship smartphone with some very premium features. 1st let’s talk about the USP of this device i.e. storage. Base variant has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, upper variant has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and finally the high-end variant has 8GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of internal storage. This is double the storage as compared to Huawei P20 Porsche Edition’s 512GB of internal storage. This is a UFS 2.1 storage type which is seen in premium smartphones like OnePlus smartphones.
Moving to other specifications, it has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 octa core processor clocked at 2.7Ghz along with Adreno 630 GPU. It sports a 6.17 inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 2424×1080 resolution that’s covered with Gorilla Glass 3. The display has 96% DCI-P3 color gamut and 1500:1 contrast ratio. Happily, it doesn’t have that cutting edge notch, just a thin layer at the top for all the placements. It has 12MP primary camera with f1.8 lens, 4-axis OIS, 1.4µ pixel size and 20MP secondary camera with f1.75 lens and 1µ pixel size. The front camera is a 24MP shooter with f2.0 lens.
It packs a 3600mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support and 10W Qi wireless charging. Unlike many other OEMs, Smartisan will provide a Quick Charge 4 charger inside the box. This device runs on Android Oreo that’s based on Smartisan OS 6. Other features are fingerprint sensor, face unlock and stereo speakers. For connectivity, it has 4G, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port. It will come in two storage variants; Carbon Black and Pure White.

Though other features are also very premium they are available at half of the price by much bigger brands. Well, there’s a long way to see 1TB of internal storage in bigger and commercial brands. But honestly speaking we don’t need 1TB of internal storage in smartphones as of now. What do you think? Do we really need 1TB storage in smartphones?
