The very popular chipset maker Qualcomm has announced its latest Wear platform and the same is dubbed as the Snapdragon Wear 4100 and 4100+ and both of them are coming with the many improvements compared to the predecessor. The company has also confirmed the first smartwatch which will be powered by the new chip as well. Everything about Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platform
Starting with the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ features the main SoC, the Always-On (AON) co-processor and that’s for low power states, and the same also comes with companion chips including PMIC, RF for modem/GPS and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and RFFE. While the Snapdragon Wear 4100 is not coming the AON co-processor, the rest remains the same.
The latest Wear 4100+ is based on a 12nm process and comes with a 1.7 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, it also supports Adreno 504 GPU, LPDDR3 memory and eMMC 4.5 storage, as well as dual ISPs. It is also capable to feature up to 16 MP cameras on wearables and a camera on a wearable will be definitely going to be interesting stuff.
Moreover, the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ is coming with the 4G LTE modem, and the same is also based on the 12nm process, it also has a dedicated DSP, low power features, and supports Cat.4 LTE and dual antennas. It also supports heart rate and sleep monitoring, step counting, alarms, timers, and haptics.
The platform also supports Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.0, and the same supports Google’s Wear OS as well as the open source version. Qualcomm has also announced that the upcoming Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 will be powered by the new chip.
