Smartphone is now becoming a basic necessity for everyone. Our day starts with it, and in many cases ends with it. Our world is evolving around a smartphone in personal, social, and professional manner. In 2019 we saw a ton of smartphones being launched with great value for money. We got some really amazing smartphones in every price segment. And the popular budget segment has the same case.
In 2019 we saw that a budget smartphone can do everything which a mid-range smartphone from last year can do. Now this category just don’t have basic smartphones, but very powerful and overall very usable smartphones as well. So we are here with our list of 5 best budget smartphones of 2019. Our price range for a budget smartphone is below ₹10,000. And do note that this is just a list, not ranking. So without further ado, let’s have a look at TechnoBugg’s best 5 budget smartphones of 2019 :
-
Redmi Note 8:
We are talking about budget, so it’s kind of mandatory to mention Xiaomi here. But this time we have to call it just Redmi because this is a sub-brand of Xiaomi now. So this Redmi Note 8 is priced just at the edge i.e. ₹10,000. But it offers some really great specifications which will give very good user experience. It’s one of those limited smartphone in this category which has Gorilla Glass 5 on the back. It has one of the fastest Snapdragon 665 chipset in the segment. The base configuration starts from 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage now. It also has quad camera setup which is very impressive. The best thing about this device is it’s support for 18W fast charging and the supported 18W charger is included right into the box. Right now this would be my personal pick in this price range.
-
Realme 5s:
This is the perfect competition to Redmi Note 8 in terms of most of the specifications. But there are some differences as well which we are going to talk about. First, this Realme 5s has bigger 5,000mAh battery, but without fast charging support. Also the display resolution is HD+ here, whereas the Note 8 Pro has Full HD+ display. Rest all the specs are same as Note 8 Pro i.e. Snapdragon 665 chipset, base model starts with 4GB RAM/64GB storage, and quad camera setup. But the back is made up of polycarbonate plastic, which is still good for the budget, but not the best. If you can consider HD+ display, no fast charging and don’t have a single ad in UI just like MIUI, then this Realme 5s is for you.
-
Realme C2:
This smartphone is priced below the other two i.e. in entry level price segment. And in 2019 the entry level smartphones are not actually entry level, but they can be used as a normal smartphone easily. Though the MediaTek P22 chipset on Realme C2 can’t do high end gaming smoothly, but normal tasks can be handled easily. The dual camera setup on this one is very good for daylight shots, but will struggle in low light and that’s completely ok in this price range. The base storage is also 32GB instead of 16GB. The battery capacity is impressive 4,000mAh. The base variant with 2GB RAM is priced at ₹5,999. But I recommend to go for 3GB RAM variant priced at ₹6,999, because this extra RAM will be beneficial for using the device for longer period.
-
Redmi 8/8A:
Redmi 8 series is very valuable this year. Why I included both Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A here is because both smartphones don’t have much difference. The Redmi 8 has dual rear camera and has 4GB RAM & 64GB storage, whereas Redmi 8A has single camera and max 3GB RAM & 32GB storage. Both smartphones has Snapdragon 439 chipset which is good for daily tasks. Camera is also very good on both devices, good in daylight but struggles in night. But three areas where it went ahead of Realme is in charging, port, and battery. Both Redmi 8/8A has 18W fast charging support and has Type-C port, which is rare in this price range. And the battery capacity is also massive 5,000mAh. The base price of Redmi 8A with 2GB RAM is ₹6,499 but I strongly recommend 3GB RAM variant at ₹6,999. Or if you want a secondary camera with more RAM and storage then Redmi 8 is also good at ₹7,999.
-
Samsung Galaxy M10s:
The last but not least smartphone in this list is Samsung Galaxy M10s. Though the reason behind selecting it for this list is because the brand loyalty, which is a priority for many people who want to be safe in after sales service. But this smartphone has it’s own uniqueness. The biggest advantage this smartphone is the display. It is the only smartphone having AMOLED panel, while the rest has IPS LCD. The colours on this panel looks punchy with great contrast and deep blacks. It has 4,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging and Type-C port. The Exynos 7884B is reasonably good chipset for normal tasks. The dual camera setup is also good, but carries same issues of low light shots as all others. The base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at ₹8,499.
Some honourable mentions which are very good smartphones but can’t make into this list:
- Vivo U10
- Redmi 7A
- Redmi Note 7S
