There was a time when people had to think many times before purchasing a ₹15,000 smartphone, around 6-7 years ago. But with time people are ready and somehow capable of spending more and more in smartphones. Now ₹15,000 price is very common in India. This year we saw a huge growth in the price segment of ₹25,000 and above, which is the range of value flagships. A value flagship smartphone has everything a true flagship has, except the top notch camera performance, tier 1 brand loyalty, and final finish here and there.
And paying a hefty price for these things is not so practical for many of us. And that’s why this value flagship category is getting so much popularity. This year we saw a good competition in value flagship smartphones, so we just can’t miss this category before the end of 2019. So today we will list out Best 5 Value Flagship Smartphone of 2019. We have set the price range between ₹25,000 – ₹40,000 to choose the smartphones. Also, we are not ranking the smartphones, because each one of them had their own uniqueness. So without further ado, let’s jump to the list :
Realme X2 Pro:
Realme has evolved so much in 2019 and actually made their debut in value flagship segment with Realme X2 Pro. It has almost everything a smartphone should have. In India specifically it is the cheapest smartphone to have 90hz refresh rate and Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The quad camera setup on this device is also quite good, but I personally miss a telephoto lens here. There’s no compromise in speed because the base variant has 8GB RAM and all variant has latest UFS 3.0 storage. And finally it’s biggest USP, the charging. It supports whopping 50W Super VOOC charging which charges the phone from 0-100% in 35 minutes. And good thing here is that this 50W charger comes out of the box. So at the starting price of ₹29,999 this Realme X2 Pro is a real flagship killer of 2019.
If we are talking about value flagships, we just can’t skip OnePlus. And this year OnePlus did very well in this segment, despite facing a lot of competition. Speaking about the OnePlus 7T, it finally got a big upgrade from regular OnePlus 7 in terms of camera. Now it has triple camera setup with useful lenses like telephoto and wide angle. And that makes it one of the best camera smartphone in this category. Other hardware specs like Snapdragon 855+, UFS 3.0 storage, and 90hz AMOLED panel is also present. But the biggest USP of this device is OxygenOS. As expected with time OxygenOS is getting better & better, and that shelves the device apart from other competitors. At the starting price of ₹37,999 the OnePlus 7T offers a good value and also a good brand image as well.
Asus ROG Phone II:
This year the popularity of gaming smartphone increased considerably, and the credit for this simply goes to Asus ROG Phone II. It’s the first gaming smartphone below ₹40k price bracket which brings it into value flagship category. And this turns out to be the most powerful Android smartphone we ever saw. The overclocked Snapdragon 855+ combined with 8GB RAM, vapour heating solutions, and Asus’s game optimisation makes this device a performance beast. And the incredible 120hz refresh rate is a cherry on top. And to power all this, the device carries a big 6,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. Even if you don’t game much, it’s a very good device for a normal user as well. Though the camera is slightly below the competitors, but it’s still fairly good. At the price of ₹37,999 this is the most powerful smartphone you can get.
Redmi K20 Pro:
At least 1 smartphone from Xiaomi/Redmi is mandatory if we ever talk about the value. And here it’s Redmi K20 Pro. Personally this device checks all the points which I require from a smartphone. The first thing is full screen display without any notch or punch hole, which is my preference. For front camera it has pop-up mechanism. Right now it is the cheapest smartphone to carry Snapdragon 855 chipset. The design on the back also makes this device unique from others. The camera setup is also fairly good on both front and back. And most importantly the secondary and third cameras on back are useful, unlike those depth camera which are sort of marketing gimmick. Other features like AMOLED display and fast in-display fingerprint sensor also makes it a very good choice. Also, it is the cheapest smartphone in this list with the price of ₹24,999 for base variant.
OPPO Reno 10X Zoom Edition:
Surprisingly even OPPO made it’s place in this value flagship list with their camera centric smartphone, OPPO Reno 10X Zoom Edition. As the name suggests it has 10X zoom, but it’s 10X optical zoom which means their won’t be any quality compromise while zooming till 10X. This one also has full screen display with Shark Fin Rising camera, which is a side popping camera mechanism. Coming back to display, it bas one of the thinnest bezels around at this price and it looks beautiful. The Snapdragon 855 on it can handle anything easily. The 4065mAh battery with 20W VOOC Charging technology can easily run the device for whole day with less charging time. If you want good camera with insane zooming capability and thin bezel display, this device starting at ₹36,990 is a deal for you.
Here are few honourable mentions which are very good smartphones but can’t make their place into this list:
- OnePlus 7
- Asus 6Z
- Lenovo Z6 Pro
So these are our pick for Best Value Flagship smartphones launched in 2019.
