Back in July Asus unveiled their ROG Phone II smartphone in China. This is the successor of last year’s ROG Phone, which was one of the initial smartphones targeted specifically for gamers. And now this successor comes with even more new features targeting hard-core smartphone gamers. Now today Asus has launched this gaming beast in the Indian market along with it’s accessories. So if you don’t know, let’s have a look at the specs of ROG Phone II.
Specifications of Asus ROG Phone II
The smartphone sports a 6.59 inch AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and offers a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, it also supports 10-bit HDR. The display also comes with 120Hz refresh rate with 1ms latency on 60Hz and 90Hz. And the touch sensor has a sampling rate of 240Hz. The device is powered by the new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, which overclocks the Adreno 640 GPU to 675MHz for a 15% boost in performance. The device is coming with 8/12GB of RAM along with 128G/512GB UFS 3.0 storage.
Moving to the camera department, the Asus ROG Phone II rocks dual rear cameras and that’s in the combination of a 48 MP camera with Dual LED Flash, f/1.8 aperture, 1/2.25″ Sony IMX586 sensor and a 13 MP secondary camera with 125-degree ultra-wide lens, f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone also has a 24 MP front camera and that is optimized for the landscape use. For security, the smartphone supports optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
It also has 3D vapor chamber to offer high-end performance (reduce throttling) while gaming. The device also has a second-generation AeroActive Cooler II which is four times quieter (24dB) and keeps the exterior of the phone cooler. The smartphone also coming with improvements in the AirTriggers, which will allow the user to rest fingers on it, as a user can give the actual triggers and you will be able to tell when you press down along with the recognition of the new swiping gesture. Furthermore, it also has two vibration motors, that can be used in games like Asphalt 9 for directional haptic feedback.
The smartphone is also coming with an Asus Crate, and that is a game launcher which will allow you to customize the setting for every game. Moreover, the smartphone also has the game Genie mode which will handle the notifications, incoming calls and locking the brightness. The smartphone also features a front-facing stereo speaker with DTS:X Ultra support and Quad mics with noise-cancellation, which means it can simulate multi-channel audio.
Talking about the software, the smartphone comes with a near-stock UI and the game-focused ROG UI, it has the power of Android and comes with the latest builds Android 9.0. Regarding the connectivity options, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad, Bluetooth 5.0, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C port, 4G, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is backed on a massive 6,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 technology. Finally, the smartphone also features the Aura RGB lighting.

There are few external accessories as well which will enhance the gaming experience even further. First is a tweaked version of the dual-screen TwinView dock and the clip-on AeroActive Cooler fan along with a new gamepad attachment which is dubbed as the Kunai. There are two split controllers which can be attached to the sides of the device into a separate joypad grip and this will offer more comfort. That’s not all, it can also be used as one of the docks – WiGig wireless display dock, Pro Dock or the Mobile Desktop Dock – to mirror on a TV. There’s an option for external battery as well, which has a capacity of 5,000mAh making total of 11,000mAh battery.
