In September 2021, Twitter announced that it would add a way for users to authenticate NFTs (Non-Fungal T) and the feature is now live.
Its now allows users to link any NFT owned by them to their Twitter account. As proof of authenticity, authentic NFT profile pictures will be displayed with the new hexagon shaped mask.
NFT( Non-Fungal Tokens)
NFTs are distinct digital collections. Which can include a variety of items, such as art work, assets, images, songs, and more.
All of these collectibles are then stored with proof of ownership stored in a blockchain (a digital database accessible to all), including NFT. Because an NFT is stored in a blockchain, information about its ownership and history is readily available through the blockchain ledger.
What exactly is an NFT profile picture?
Twitter users can show their NFTs to individuals via the social media platform. Twitter’s new feature allows you to select static image NFTs associated with their wallet, which they can display as a hexagonal profile picture.
How to set up an NFT as Twitter profile picture
Users will first need to temporarily link their Twitter accounts to the NFTs they want to use as their profile pictures. When Wallet connects, Twitter will generate a confirmation request message at the provided wallet address. Users will be asked to complete the signing request using their Twitter handle.
Users can add their profile picture to Twitter from NFTs associated with their crypto wallet. Users can also connect multiple wallets to choose from in their collection of NFTs.
