The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp has added a new privacy feature, which is mainly designed for pre-teens. The application will be under the control of the parents. The feature will be restricting features including voice and video calls. The feature is currently rolling out globally. So let’s get into the article to check out the full details.
WhatsApp will ask parents to set up the pre-teen’s account, and the account of WhatsApp will be controlled by the parent, including by deciding who can contact the account and which groups they can join.
The application will enable parents to review message requests from unknown contacts and manage the account’s privacy settings. Everything will be secured by a parent PIN on the managed account.
To access the new feature, you need to download WhatsApp on your child’s device and when setting up an account, it is essential to select More options and then “Create a parent-managed account”. Then you need to register and verify your child’s number, and enter their birthday and confirm their age. After that, you need to scan a QR code on their phone that will link their WhatsApp account with yours, and create your six-digit parent PIN.
