Xiaomi introduced its first notebook in China four years ago. Since then fans have been requesting the company to bring those models to India. After years of anticipation and months of teasing, Xiaomi finally unveils the Mi Notebook 14 and Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition in India. Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition
Starting with the Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition, it is powered by the latest 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake processors. It is available with either Intel Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U CPUs.It also touts an Nvidia GeForce MX350 GPU. The storage configurations include 8 GB DDR4 RAM and 512 GB of M.2 NVMe storage. Unlike other plastic-made notebooks in the range, Mi Notebook has sturdy built with aluminium-magnesium alloy. The company has managed to fit in a 14-inch display with FHD resolution in a 13.3-inch frame. In addition, it offers 91% screen to body ratio which is one of the highest in the price range.
Mi Notebook 14
The Mi Notebook 14 features similar design language to the Horizon Edition but the bezels are more prominent, resulting in a larger footprint. The only variant available is powered by the Intel Core i5 102 10U processor in combination with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 512 GB of SATA 3 SSD storage. Only the top-end variant of the Mi Notebook comes with Nvidia GeForce MX 250 whereas the lower ones come with Intel UHD Graphics 620 inside. The screen size is fixed at 14-inches.
Extra Features
Both notebooks sport I/O ports like 2x USB 3.1 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 Type-A port, USB Type-C port and an HDMI 1.4 port. It also houses an audio jack for headphones and mic. The Notebooks support WiFi 802.11ac 2×2 and Bluetooth 5.0. It is powered by a 46 Wh battery that gives up to 10 hours of continuous usage. The charger is rated 65W and can charge the notebooks up to 50% in under 30 minutes. Both run Windows 10 Home Edition. The special features that Xiaomi has thrown in, includes Mi Blaze Unlock, allowing users to unlock the Mi Notebook using MI Band and the other is a Mi Smart Share feature allowing users to easily share files. In a surprising move, all Xiaomi Mi Notebooks lack an integrated webcam instead it comes as a separate wired unit inside the box. This might be due to the increasing privacy concerns and many would appreciate this decision.
Pricing and Availability
Mi Notebook 14 price starts at INR 41,990 for the Intel Core i5 + UHD Graphics 620 version. This variant comes with 256 GB of SSD storage. Whereas the 512 GB SSD version is priced at INR 44,999. The top of the line Mi Notebook 14 that comes with Nvidia MX250 is priced at INR 47,999. Mi Notebook Horizon Edition pricing starts at INR 54,999 for the Core i5 variant that comes with Nvidia MX350 and 512 GB SSD storage. If you want to get the Core i7 variant, you will have to spend INR 59,999. In addition, Xiaomi is also running an instant discount offer of Rs 2,000 for HDFC Debit/Credit Card users. Both the Mi Notebook models will go on sale starting from June 17th via online stores and offline via Mi Homes across the country.
