Yesterday we reported that the Chinese mobile manufacturer Xiaomi is working on a dual side slider smartphone with a secondary display and today fresh news has come suggesting that the company is also working on a modular smartphone with a periscope zoom camera. The company has been awarded a patent for this design as well.
The patent was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for an ‘electronic device. This document suggests that the company is planning to work on a device that will have multiple modules that serve different functions. A concept based on this patent has already been created by LetsGoDigital. This render suggests that the first module will consist of the motherboard and the camera system, the next one will house the battery and the third one will be the base of the smartphone.
Among these three modules, two of them have displays that connect together to form a big screen and that too without a crease. As its a modular smartphone, these modules can be detached through a rail-like sliding mechanism. The documents showcase two camera modules – one with a square cutout that has a triple-camera setup and an LED flash similar to Redmi Note 9 Series. The other one is a vertical camera setup with four cameras and one among them is a periscope zoom camera.
Coming to the front, we do not have many details on the subject, but we do suspect the modular smartphone will have an under-display camera. In case you did not know Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun shared the concept of the Xiaomi Magic Cube modular smartphone on Weibo a while back. This patent could be the beginning of the company trying to make it for real.

I’ve been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found
any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for
me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web
will be a lot more useful than ever before.
Hey would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your layout seems
different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had
to ask!
