YouTube to block spreading Disturbing videos for Children under 18

YouTube has added a new policy to prevent spreading videos which is so disturbing to children under the age of 18.

This new policy will make YouTube safer for Children by blocking all the Age-appropriate content displaying to them. The YouTube algorithm will automatically block the content which is flagged by users as Age appropriate customers. Not the only YouTube, this will impact YouTube kids app and automatically block videos from it.

Medium Blog writer James Bridle wrote in a post “unsettling videos aimed at youngsters that show characters like Peppa Pig, Frozen’s Elsa, and Marvel superheroes acting out violent, sometimes sexually suggestive themes. Someone or something or some combination of people and things is using YouTube to systematically frighten, traumatise, and abuse children, automatically and at scale.”

YouTube’s Director of Policy, Juniper Downs said “Earlier this year, we updated our policies to make content featuring inappropriate use of family entertainment characters ineligible for monetisation,”

“We’re in the process of implementing a new policy that age restricts this content in the YouTube main app when flagged. Age-restricted content is automatically not allowed in YouTube Kids. The YouTube team is made up of parents who are committed to improving our apps and getting this right.”

If the policy is made to its words, Then it would easily kill all the inappropriate contents and make YouTube also safe for Children. Let us wait and see what the policy brings the real-time changes to YouTube.
