It is officially announced that YouTube is changing its Partner Program requirements for creators. The new rules will be implemented from February 1, 2027.
YouTube has announced that the new creators will need 1,000 subscribers and 8,000 qualified public watch hours in 365 days or 20M qualified Shorts views in 90 days.
The company is also planning to update the rules for the existing creators as well. For creators already in YPP, 10M qualified Shorts views in 90 days will be required for Shorts ads and subscription revenue sharing.
If a creator falls below 10M, they stay in YPP and can continue earning from long-form videos and the revenue with Shorts will resume only after crossing 10M again.
YouTube is also expanding Premium Lite to all countries where YouTube Premium is available and it is said that 60% of Premium Lite net subscription revenue goes into the creator pool, which is then distributed based on watch time/views. The revenue share is 55% for long-form and 45% for shorts.
