After Hangout, the social networking giant Facebook’s messenger app also integrated SMS into its instant messaging application. In 2012 Facebook introduced this feature in their messaging application but it was not noticed that much, but now they have officially announced that they have integrated the SMS in their instant messaging application.
Facebook messenger gives a fresh look to this SMS integration feature than hangout, Hangout shows conversation and SMS into the same message but Facebook shows SMS conversation in purple colour while messenger chats remains in the blue colour. the SMS integration is exclusive introduced in android but you can send text to any platform, which means the SMS integration feature will not be available for Windows platform or iOS platform at least for now.

To send or receive SMS on Messenger application follow the steps:
- Before start, make sure you have updated Messenger application.
- Tap on the Settings of the Messenger app.
- Scroll down and select ‘SMS’.
- Now just turn on ‘Default SMS app’.
The SMS feature of Messenger will support text, photos, videos. stickers as well as emoji’s and you do location sharing. However, you won’t able to send GIF and you can’t do voice and video calls. These features will be available in messenger application as earlier.
If you are now thinking about privacy, then stop thinking about it because Facebook will not keep any of your conversation in their servers. So give a try to messenger’s SMS feature and free an icon from your home screen.
