FTP which stands for file transfer protocol, it is a standard network protocol used to transfer files between one server to another network. It’s really helps you to keep your files on a server and you can access or download that file anywhere even if you are away from your own computer because you can direct download from the server where you have stored your files. In this article we will show you how to add a FTP server on your PC.
To add a FTP server on your computer follow the steps:
- Open Windows Explorer and go to my computer.
- Now right click in the right pain and select ‘Add a network location’.
- A wizard will appear on your screen, and click ‘Next’ and select ‘Choose a custom network location’.
- Now enter your FTP server address like ftp://server.com.
- Enter your username and password to access your server.
- Don’t have username and password then you can also login to the server. Check the ‘log on anonymously’, in the anonymous login you will get some limited service like you can only download public files and you cannot able to upload any file to the server.
- Now you have to enter name of network location.
That’s it, your network will appear under ‘Network Locations’.
